Who We Are?

CrossFit
Pineville

CFP philosophy — we exist to advance the fitness, health, and wellness for each of our members through community and encouragement.

Our Story

Family, community and building relationships is a huge part of CrossFit and CFP. It’s thanks to our family that CFP even exists today.  Several years ago, Michelle’s brother Josh married Warren’s sister Callie. Over the years at family events, it became evident that Brandon, Michelle and Warren had a mutual and shared love of physical activity and fitness. One fateful day at our nephew’s birthday party, the idea to partner together came up and from it came CFP.  At CFP we want to create an environment that encourages and allows our athletes to work towards their own individual fitness goals, to push a little harder than the day before, and to be encouraged and built up in each workout.

Every person has distinct wants and needs, and at CFP we strive to offer a program that is beneficial for anyone who is willing to put in the hard work. We aim to assist our clients in achieving great health, remarkable fitness, and a general overall well-being. Training and working with the athletes at our box is the highlight of our day. Our desire is that the strong sense of community at CFP will make coming to CrossFit Pineville the highlight of your day.

Our Team

Meet The Coaches

At CFP, one of our main goals is to provide quality coaching to every member, each time they’re in the box. We strive to ensure that each member, whether they have been CrossFitting for 5 years or 5 weeks, receives coaching, feedback and instruction on a daily basis.

Michelle Shuck

Owner / Coach

About

After teaching special education in the local school system for 5 years, Michelle now teaches and trains at CrossFit Pineville. After struggling with her weight & body image and trying every yo-yo diet, she began working out regularly in college. Years in a typical gym as a “cardio junkie” left Michelle bored, but CrossFit made working out fun again! It will challenge you and change you in the best ways possible, if you let it! Born and raised in Charlotte, a true Panther fan and lover of fun, Michelle loves to lift weights and never knew that would become such a passion of hers. “It’s no longer about being skinny, it’s about being strong & celebrating what my body can do!” When not in the gym, Michelle is busy chasing after her and Brandon’s two busy kiddos, Kinslee and Cannon, and spending time with family and friends.

Cory McCleaf

General Manager/Coach

About

Growing up, Cory played every sport he could find and eventually gravitated to baseball and wrestling. In high school, he was small and scrawny. He wanted to grow and become stronger for his sports, so he began training with a strength coach in my hometown. Once he started college and his organized sport career ended, he landed in the gym as a way to maintain and continue to be the best version of an athlete he could be. Upon completing college, Cory spent a year and a half as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Penn State University and Mount Saint Mary’s University. He found CrossFit in 2014 and instantly fell in love. “My passion for fitness is an integral part of my life, and helping others reach their goals has become one of the greatest joys in my life!”

The only thing he loves more than doing CrossFit, is coaching it! “The best aspect of my job is getting to help athletes improve their health, and lives through fitness!” Outside the gym, he can be found frequenting the White Water Center; rafting, rock climbing, and mountain biking.

Amy Bullock

Physical Therapist (PT)

About

The youngest of two older brothers, Amy grew up playing sports with the boys her whole life. After playing basketball & soccer in college, she lost that competitive edge until she found CrossFit in 2014. Since then, CrossFit has continually shaped her perspective on keeping the human body resilient by avoiding sickness, disease & injury. Amy is a physical therapist & strives to promote “thinking athletes” - reiterating quality of movement over quantity of movement as the first step to expressing your health! Amy enjoys coaching those early morning classes while helping her athletes succeed in gaining more insight on how their bodies can & should be moving. She loves coffee, her best friends, family & seeing her athletes succeed in their life pursuits, living a more healthy lifestyle!

Gary Sunstrom

Coach

About

Gary and his wife Toby have been married 38 years and have 2 grown children. Gary loves to be active and outdoors – hiking in the NC mountains, kayaking, or at the beach. He’s completed 5Ks, marathons and everything in between, but was tired of the monotony of long runs. His son introduced him to CrossFit at CFP back in 2013 and he was hooked! After retiring from the bank, Gary joined the CFP team, just the fun job he was looking for to keep him busy in retirement! Most wouldn’t believe that you could do handstand push-ups or kipping pull-ups at 60+ years old, but Gary is proving them wrong! Gary believes nothing worthwhile in life comes easy, whether it’s your marriage, job, or raising kids. And the same is true of health and fitness. “Work hard and smart, be committed and consistent in anything you do.”

Jeremy Lundstrom

Coach

About

After being introduced to a CrossFit style workout while he was working at the JMU rec center in 2009, Jeremy was instantly hooked. Jeremy always participated in sports growing up but there was a competitive void in his life once he got to college. He and his co-workers would take turns concocting brutal workouts then try to one-up each other with how fast they could complete them. Little did he know this competitive passion in the gym would still be driving him more than 10 years later. After moving to the Charlotte area at the beginning of 2020, he and his wife tried out just about every gym around. When they dropped into CFP, they could immediately tell this was the community for them. Prior to moving to Charlotte, Jeremy coached at Ballston Crossfit for almost 6 years. “So glad to be a part of the CFP coaching team and can't wait to be here for years to come!”
